The carefully considered décor and layout offers space for everyone with the four/five en-suite bedrooms ensuring privacy when needed. The spacious kitchen and dining area have both been designed for entertaining and celebrating. Outside, you’ll find a superb lawned garden with plenty of seating for lazy summer afternoons.

Chalklands is next to the coast and less than three hours from London, making it the ideal choice for short breaks, whilst longer stays are just as opulent.

Living

In the long sitting room, you’ll find two large and luxurious Loaf sofas on which to sprawl out on and gaze out of the bay windows, plus two further occasional chairs nestled around the double-fronted wood burner, turning those cooler days into cosy retreats. During warmer months, the French doors at the far end of the room can be opened out onto the large undercover alfresco eating area. The snug-come-games room features an ample Smart Oled TV and a Boot/Games room for walking boots and coats, as well as additional space for table football, pool table, and air hockey. So on those rainy days there is plenty to keep everyone occupied.

Eating

The stunning kitchen is sure to impress budding and experienced chefs alike. Spacious and open plan, it benefits from a fantastic central island and features all the essentials, including an impressive Rangemaster Deluxe with four ovens and a five-ring induction hob. In addition, there’s a dishwasher, large American fridge/freezer and a Dualit coffee machine. A washing machine and condenser dryer can be found in the adjacent utility room.

The beautiful dining table and Hans Wenger chairs comfortably seat ten and benefit from the cosy heat of the double-sided wood burner, whilst the glass doors lead out onto the patio and garden beyond.

Sleeping & Bathing

The master bedroom has a gorgeous French-inspired super king bed, a vast bay window with glorious distant sea views, a table and chairs – the perfect place for morning coffee – and an en suite shower room with blissful underfloor heating, plus access to the sun-flooded balcony.
The second and third bedrooms also have wonderful sea and countryside views with either a king size or zip-and-link bed, both with en suite shower rooms with underfloor heating. If the fourth, gorgeous, single bedroom is being used then it shares a bathroom with the third bedroom. Bedroom five is also a super king-sized zip-and-link bed, with courtyard and field views, television and an en suite bathroom plus a breathtaking freestanding bath and separate walk-in shower, and of course, underfloor heating. All the beds are swathed in the finest feather duvets and pillows, linens, throws and pillows. The en suites are thoughtfully stocked with luscious Noble Isle products and have heated rails to keep towels warm and fluffy.

Outdoor Space

The outdoor space is fantastic for entertaining and eating. It features a covered dining area for ten with a teak table and chairs, plus a gas barbecue. To the front, leading conveniently from the kitchen, is a patio area with a breakfast table set for four, surrounded by herbs and roses. Beyond this there’s an expansive lawn which is perfect for children to play and dogs to roam with the handy additions of loungers, a bench and a fire pit – perfect for roasting marshmallows or making s’mores under a starry sky.

The outdoor living space is surrounded by fields (with the occasional sheep) and distant sea views. A peaceful and blissful setting to thoroughly unwind. With Chalklands being in an Area Of Natural Beauty the property is surrounded by farmland. From time to time the arable farm will carry out work in these fields, and pylons will be visible on one side of the property.

Parking & Access

There is plenty of private, off-road parking for up to eight cars. Please note that the entrance to the part-cobbled courtyard is 2.5 meters high and cars will need to be under this to fit through. There is a type 2 electric charging point for guests’ use.

Nestled in the Dorset countryside, in an AONB, right by the Jurassic coast, Chalklands is just perfect for exploring this beautiful part of England. From here it’s a short drive to Weymouth, where time exploring the West Dorset Heritage Coast of Chesil Beach and Portland Bill is a must. Move up the coast and explore the ancient and pretty villages such as Abbotsbury with its famous church or Cerne Abbas with its giant chalk figure. Head inland and the beautiful city of Dorchester awaits, whilst Lyme Regis is a lovely drive up the coast. Hive Beach, managed by the National Trust, is a large and quieter beach, a must for time by the sea. Head east beyond Weymouth and Lulworth Cove for stunning sea views. Eating out around here is simply divine, with a real emphasis on seafood, whilst ancient pubs and tea rooms offer plenty to whet your whistle.
